    It appears to be the Equipment Core of YE that's causing the issue but I'm not sure what exactly the issue is. UPDATE: I think the plugin might have just been outdated.     Okay, so, while I still am not having luck with the absorption barrier, using States and the State Protection plugin I found a similar thing that reduces damage coming in with something like <HP Protection: Damage Cut 75%> put into a state.

    I don't want the player to be able to move until after the other character walks up to them and the dialog and everything is finished. Basically "step on start tile; player can't move-> NPC walks up-> dialog and whatever else-> event over; player can move".
